about
Waitin' on a Train" sees McCreedy return to her folk/acoustic roots aligned with the influences of artists such as Anthony Toner, First Aid Kit, and The Milk Carton Kids.
When asked about the single, McCreedy reflected on the following: "This year has been a time of suspension for all of us, in some way or another. "Waitin' on a Train" is about the figurative limbo we all experience as we transition between significant chapters in our lives. I recorded it in my kitchen one evening and it all came together pretty quickly from there. It felt right to release it in the current moment."
lyrics
I've been sitting looking here
At these four walls
And you know it brings me back
to the start, of it all
I never wanted to be here
Not in my wildest dreams
It just goes to show
Dreams are never what they seem
Waitin' on a train
To come take me away
Waitin' on a train
There's always some delays
Until then I will stay
Waitin' on a train
I never imagined myself here
Let alone that I would fall
In love for four years
Now it's hard to see myself anywhere else
But you know that change is growth
And it is for yourself
Waitin' on a train
To come take me away
Waitin' on a train
There's always some delays
Until then I will stay
Waitin' on a train
Waitin' on a train
Come take me away
Waitin' on a train
Feeling queasy today
'Cause I have learned to stay
But it's time to go away
Waitin' on a train
